Matthew 2:10-11 (NASB)
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly
with great joy. 11 And
after they came into the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary;
and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and
presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Thought
for today – Three important aspects of worship are joy, humility, and
sacrifice.
The
wise men came to worship the King, and they give us an important pattern for
our own worship of Christ. This is not a detailed description of worship,
but it is a snapshot, if you will, of what true worship looks like. Worship
begins with joy at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Worship reveals itself
in deep humility as we prostrate ourselves in His presence, and worship is
proven by the sacrifices we make for Him.
That’s
what the Book says!
