Matthew
1:20-21 (NKJV)
20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of
the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be
afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in
her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their
sins.”
Thought for today – Joseph was completely obedient to the
word of God.
Joseph and Mary were simple, ordinary people without special
abilities or uncommon strengths. The only area of life that marked them
as exceptional was their humble devotion to the Lord and desire to obey His
word. For that reason, I esteem Joseph as one of the great men of the
Bible. Every time God spoke to him, he immediately obeyed, without
question and without compromise. That is one of the important lessons of
the Christmas story.
That’s what the Book says!
